Join us for a talk with artist Álvaro D. Márquez. Álvaro will be speaking about his work ‘Geometries of Displacement’ which is on view in the Library’s Reading Lounge. Geometries of Displacement traces a long history of displacement in the shaping of what we now call Los Angeles, starting with the arrival of Spanish settlers in 1769, to the contemporary moment. Álvaro D. Márquez is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher who works primarily around issues of historical and contemporary forms of displacement, using print-based installation, sculpture and fiber art.
